The post-secondary education system in Canada is organized into three degree levels i.e. undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degree. Your undergraduate degree takes between three to four years to complete while a graduate degree usually requires between one to three years of full-time study. A doctoral degree or PhD requires a minimum of two to three years of full-time study.

REQUIREMENTS TO STUDY IN CANADA

The basic documents you will require for a Canadian student visa include your passport, your recent photographs, academic certificates from high school to the last qualification, and proof of English language proficiency. Besides these basic requirements, you will also need to provide a detailed SOP, LORs, a well-written resume, and proof of your medical examination.

If you are planning to apply for undergraduate courses, you will need at least 6 bands in IELTS with no less than 5.5 bands in each module. For graduate course, you will need at least 6.5 bands with no less the 6 band in each module.

You will also need to provide proof of financial support for your study in Canada. You can prove your financial support by showing any of the following documents like proof of Canadian Bank account, educational loan form financial institution, a bank draft, or bank statements for the past four months. You can also purchase a special Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) from Scotia Bank, in the amount of $10,200 as proof of your financial support to study in Canada.
